WHAT IS HIGH-DOSAGE TUTORING?
High-dosage tutoring is a proven strategy of tutoring that accelerates student learning. HDT is an ongoing intentional and intensive form of tutoring that occurs one-on-one or in small group settings at least three times a week. Depending on the age of the students involved each session lasts between thirty minutes to one hour.
OUR APPROACH TO HIGH-DOSAGE TUTORING
personalization
The content that is taught within our tutoring sessions is driven by data gathered from student assessments, as well as grade level content that is being taught in school. This information helps to guide the tutors instruction.
Students take part in assessments on a regular basis so that their growth can be tracked.
DELIVERY
All of our lessons are delivered online. Through the usage of an online classroom, interactive boards, as well as math manipulatives we are able to collaborate with students and keep them engaged. Families enjoy the flexibility of our online classes; parents and students appreciate that they can learn from anywhere as long as they have their device!
frequency
Every student begins with 10 weeks of tutoring. During this time, students meet with their tutor at least 3 times per week. Depending upon the age of the student, each session is either 30 minutes or 1 hour in duration. High-dosage tutoring is an ongoing form of tutoring, we require this amount of time at minimum to help a student grow.
group size
Most of our private sessions are conducted one-on-one with a tutor and their student.
We also offer classes to small groups with a 3:1 student teacher ratio.
If interested in group classes, students are placed in a group based upon their academic needs, age, learning style, and interests.
RELATIONSHIP
As students meet with their tutors several times a week on an ongoing basis we are able to create and foster strong positive relationships.
At Bright Minds Learning Centre we pride ourselves on these trustworthy connections.
We find that these relationships have a tremendous impact on student outcomes.
